Gather Round Homeschool: Space – Resources to Save You Time!

We are a first year Gather Round Homeschool family and are loving it!

Space was one of the units that both me and my girls were looking forward to. Over the summer, we spent a week learning about space in one of my own themed weeks before we had even made the decision to homeschool. We all really enjoyed it, so when we saw that it was a unit option in Gather Round, I knew we needed to dive deeper into what we had already learned about!

If you’d like to see what all we ended up doing and what we thought about this unit, then make sure to check out the review I did, too!

For anyone unfamiliar with this curriculum, be sure to check out this blog post that tells more about it or download free samples of some of the units to try to them out!

The Resources:

These “extras” are the things that I love about doing unit studies! It helps make the lessons even more immersive!

I’ve also found that our lessons go so much more smoothly when I have everything that I want to introduce to my kids all organized and ready to go. Sometimes we may not get to everything or even go down a different rabbit trail of learning but it’s so helpful to have what I want readily available.

I understand how time-consuming this is, though! So, I’m sharing with you some of the playlists and resources we have used for the space unit study so that you can have what you need without all the planning!

My playlists are probably geared mostly toward upper elementary and under because that is where my kids are. There are lots of other videos you could add if you have older kids as well.

While I’ve used these resources with my kids, I always recommend that you preview them before using with your kiddos to make sure it’s a good fit for your family.

The videos in this playlist are favorites of my kiddos. (We don’t watch them ALL though!) They go in order from Lesson 1 – 20 to make your life easier! Use what you like, leave what you don’t, add what you need.

They can be used during the lesson, after the lesson, or anytime really! How they are used is entirely up to you.

Gather Round Homeschool: Space – Pinterest Board

Pinterest is such a fantastic way to gather ideas for crafts, projects, games and more! I’ve been a fan for a long time. Sometimes I use the ideas that I find directly and other times scrolling pinterest inspires ideas of my own.

This is yet another thing that takes a little time, so here is your shortcut!

This board has all the ideas that I saved for the Gather Round Homeschool Space Unit Study.

Some of these we do during individual lessons and others we do on the day after the last lesson as sort of an “activity day”. I don’t make any of it a super big deal…my aim is for it to be a fun learning day in hopes that the experiences will help some of the information we’ve learned about stick in their brains a little better! 🙂

We may do experiments or crafts we didn’t have time for earlier and read any leftover books we had. We may also watch a movie we didn’t get to or a couple shows I really wanted them to see. None of this is necessary for you to have an AMAZING space unit…but if you enjoy incorporating some extra activities, then I hope this resource saves you time planning!

Gather Round Homeschool: Space – Book List & More!

Book List:

Rebecca Spooner, the creator of Gather Round Homeschool, has an amazing book list in the front of every unit’s Teacher’s Guide. It’s even divided up by levels to make it easy! I was able to get most of the ones I wanted from our local library and then used Amazon and Thrift Books to pick up any remaining ones that we wanted.

Below is a list of books not on that list that we used and some that I wanted to get but the budget didn’t allow!:
