The Top 2 Reasons I Started This Blog

Have you ever just looked around your house during homeschooling and wondered how everyone could be on the same page sometimes so you don’t feel like a human ping pong ball?

Maybe you wish it was more lively and interesting?

Or maybe you’ve looked around your house to find it in a state of chaos with kids running around, singing at the top of their lungs, and dragging toys onto the floor endlessly, wondering how you can provide more structure? Maybe this is just my house. 🙂

If you’ve asked yourself any of these questions, then you’re in good company! I’ve created this blog to hopefully help you out in these areas!

The Top 2 Reasons I Started This Blog:

top 2 reasons I started this blog

1.) I want this blog to help make your homeschool more fun and interesting!

If you’ve been wondering if there’s a way to make your homeschool more fun, interesting, and cohesive amongst your children then I’m here to tell you it’s possible!

Three years ago, before we started homeschooling, I began creating my own “themed units” to provide some structure and fun learning for my kiddos during their summer break. They weren’t overly academic and were definitely flexible (it IS called a break for a reason!), but they provided a plan for when we needed something to do.

It only took a couple of weeks of these units for my girls to LOVE this idea. In fact, it has been a part of our summers ever since.

Once I began looking into official homeschooling methods, it occurred to me that my “themed units” were actually little mini Unit Studies…and that revelation made all the difference for me! I knew this was my passion. It was how I wanted to do school with my children.

I had already seen how much more fun learning was for my girls when they were learning about the same topic together. It was more fun for me as well! I was learning right alongside them…becoming their “lead learner”… and I want to show you how a Unit Study approach can change the dynamic of your homeschool, as well!

2.) I want to provide resources to help save your time and sanity!

One of my goals for this blog is to share my “themed units” with you. I plan to organize the resources that I used throughout our past three summers and provide you with those blueprints to use during your summer breaks (even if you don’t homeschool!) or as an addition to your homeschool! I’ll be rolling them out individually, so if this is something that you’re interested in, make sure to sign up for email updates so you don’t miss them!

We are also a Gather Round Homeschool family! We have greatly enjoyed using this unit study based curriculum so far.

One of the things I quickly noticed, though, was how many additional resources could be added to the lesson for further enrichment (and sometimes just for a different learning method!)…things like videos, songs, crafts, tv shows, movies, and games.

And while all these of things are amazing and interesting and fun and valuable….they also take some TIME to get organized and planned!

So I’m also planning to share with you pre-planned playlists and resources for the different Gather Round units. They will probably be geared towards the ages of my children (upper elementary and below) but hopefully they will be a great place to at least start where you can use what you like, leave what you don’t, and add what you need!

So there you have it!

The top 2 reasons I started this blog! If any of this sounds up your alley then stick around! I’m looking forward to sharing my plans, ideas, resources and homeschooling journey with you. 🙂
