Disney Movie Week #1: A Thematic Unit You’ll Love
I don’t know about you, but I love a good week of themed learning and activities! It’s been a go to in our house for the past three summers. If you haven’t yet read about why I create and use these “themed weeks”, then make sure to go here and here and get the quick overview. 🙂
This Disney Movie Week unit is designed to be done in a 5-day week where one movie is dedicated to each day. You can, of course, use the content however you’d like!
The five movies included in this unit are:
- Toy Story 1-3 (take your pick!)
- Toy Story 4
- Ratatouille
- Lady and the Tramp
- Peter Pan
You’ll notice I have this labeled as Disney Movie Week #1…and that’s because there are more!:
- Disney Movie Week #2 – Frozen, Moana, Tangled, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast
- Disney Movie Week #3 – Cars, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Lion King

- Creative Writing: Write a letter to Forky explaining the difference between a toy and trash.

Get the Wiggles Out:

- Bike Ride (Try to ride fast like Duke CaBoom!)

Disney Movie Week – Day 3: Ratatouille
Creative Learning & Fun:

- Learn a few French Words and Practice Using Them All Day
- For Example: Hello, Goodbye, Please, Thank You, Yes, No, Excuse Me
- Chef’s Hat Craft
- Create a Ratatouille Themed Poster Using the Motto “Anyone Can Cook”
- Build an Eiffel Tower out of Legos, Magna Tiles, or other blocks
- Play Restaurant
Fun in the Kitchen:
- Make Ratatouille of course!
- Classic Quiche Lorraine
- Practice Kitchen Skills

Disney Movie Week – Day 4: Lady and the Tramp

- Coffee Filter Dog Craft

- Bella Notte Soda
Get the Wiggles Out:
- Play Dog Pound: The kids pretend to be dogs and run around while the dog catcher (mom or dad) chases them. If they get caught, they get sent to the pound until another dog can sneak over and get them out!

Disney Movie Week – Day 5: Peter Pan
Creative Learning & Fun:
- Make and Wear a Peter Pan Hat
- Create Your Own Treasure Map

Remember that you can do as many or as few of these activities as you want. My goal in this post is simply to share with you this themed week that we did over the summer and organize it in such a way that you can do it too in half the time!
Many of the activities we did, and some of them we didn’t get to, but I would like to if we ever circle back to this again! Don’t make it stressful, just fun! 🙂
